"The Lady Mary After Queen, 1796" and "Tho: Wiatt Knight, 1793". Pair of stipple engravings with subtle hand coloring. Pair of lovely portraits from His Majesty's Collection executed during the time that Bartolozzi was employed as Engraver to the King. From original drawings by Hans Holbien. Each image apprx 17"H x 12"W and 16-1/2"H x 11-3/4"W. Verso of "Queen" has biographical information. In cream mat and gold colored frames, entire items measure apprx 27-1/2"H x 21-1/2"W.

114. A Pair of Engravings by Maria Catherine Prestel (English, 1744-1794)
"The Country Girl in London" and "The Country Girl at Home", both after original paintings by George Morland. Both published ca. 1792, London. Prestel worked with great success in London from 1786 until her death in 1794. Her plates, which are usually etched, show traces of aquatint and few are engraved entirely in this manner. Both pieces have tag from Vixseboxse Art Galleries, Cleveland, OH. Both are also like framed in maple wood and French mats. Images measure apprx 14" x 9-7/8", overall with frame apprx 23-7/8" x 18-1/4".

116. Francisco Goya y Lucientes (Spanish, 1746-1828)
"Los Caprichos: La filiacion" (the relationship) Plate 57. No visible watermark, cream colored wove paper. The eighty etchings of "Los Caprichos" were the first collection Goya produced for sale as a single set. In 1803, fearful of the Spanish Inquisition, Goya relinquished the plates to Charles IV, in return for a pension for his son. The plates remain with the Calcografia, issued in the ensuing years by that institution. Apprx 8-5/8" x 5-7/8" plate mark. Overall measures apprx 11-7/8" x 9-3/8".
