2. Continental School, 17th Century
Three quarter portrait of a noblewoman. Oil on wood panel, no signature found, framed in a wide antique coved frame in black painted finish overall 30-3/4" x 24". Strip of textile has been applied vertically to the back of the panel, probably to arrest a crack. Old stenciled auction numbers and partial sticker verso.
The artwork is inscribed on the verso with white chalk "Rousuck", possibly E. J. Rousuck who was an Ohio native and former owner of Scott & Fowles, a small New York art gallery that handled old master paintings.

Oil on wood panel, no signature found, framed in an antique Dutch pattern frame overall 32" x 27", with "Anne of Austria" inscribed on the lower left of the frame and "Pantoja de la Cruz 1551-1609" on the lower right of the frame. Old auction number attached to the back of the panel.
The artwork is inscribed on the verso with white chalk "Rousuck", possibly E. J. Rousuck who was an Ohio native and former owner of Scott & Fowles, a small New York art gallery.

4. British School, 18th Century, Manner of Nathaniel Hone
Portrait of Mrs. Sydney Wynn. Oil on canvas, no signature found, framed in a wide gilt frame overall 35" x 29-1/2". Hand written label verso, partially legible, "Mrs. Wynn...Sydney second daughter of Sir William Williams, Bart,...married John Wynn of the Abbey Denbigh...painted about 176*....1758-1761..." Also various numerals, possibly indicating auction activity.
The frame and stretcher bar is inscribed verso in white chalk; "Rousuck", possibly E. J. Rousuck who was an Ohio native and former owner of Scott & Fowles, a small New York fine art gallery (1905-1943). Also in white chalk "Rosenthal", possibly Albert Rosenthal Esq. a collector who is listed as loaning paintings for exhibitions, most notably the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915; having loaned many portraits. Ref: Official catalogue of the Department of fine arts, Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915.
Framers tag of James Bourlet & Sons, ca. 1896-1910. Further study is needed to distinguish Bourlet's label as fine art packers from their business as frame makers.
Bourlet's labels are found on many paintings in the National Portrait Gallery.

9. A Collection of Miniature Portraits
The hand-painted image of a Russian woman is most likely a portrait of Maria Feodorovna Empress Consort to Tzar Alexander III and is 2-1/2" x 2-1/4." The second pin is a transfer image of a young woman and is 2-1/2" x 2-1/4." The miniature on ivory in the round wooden frame is a portrait of Gabrielle d'Estrees the mistress of King Henry IV of France and is 1-3/4" round image with a frame size of 3-3/4." The image of the mother and child is after a self-portrait of Mme. Vigee-LeBrun, the court painter for Marie Antoinette and is 2-1/4" x 1/-3/4."
